The below flyover is the result of an initial survey and feasibility study of Park land on the north side of Capitol View Park (north of the creek) for use as a disc golf course. The land for the course was designated in the Frankfort Parks and Recreation Master Plan which was approved by the Frankfort City Commissioners.
UPDATE: After this feasibility study was performed, it was found that the park land designated for the course was being subleased for $1/month and will now require the termination of that lease before a course can be installed on the property. FDGA will continue to lobby the City Commissioners on behalf of the citizens of Frankfort for the return of this property to public use.
NOTE: This river front property would also give the public the best possible views of the Capitol rotunda within the park.
The map demonstrates the feasibility of an 18 hole course within the bounds of the Parks Master Plan with a minimum potential length of up to ~6000 ft.
NOTE: This map also demonstrates that with the use of 36 pads and 36 targets we can effectively create 4 distinct layouts playable year round on a single property. This would be the first course in Kentucky to have 4 distinct layouts playable year round.
The 4 layouts shown in the flyover are as follows: (RED) A shorter, family friendly, beginner layout. (Short to Short) (WHITE & BLUE) Two medium layouts with completely different shots. (GOLD) The longest, most technical and challenging layout. (Long to Long)
